Polyvinylidene Fluoride (PVDF) Transfer Membrane are usually used for immunoblotting techniques such as Western blots. These membranes are hydrophobic and have high binding affinity for proteins and nucleic acids. The 0.22μm pore size is suitable for experiments where smaller molecules like bacteria, virus, proteins needs to be filtered out. Compared to Nitrocellulose (NC) Membrane, PVDF Membrane has a better mechanical strength making it suitable for stripping or probing for further downstream applications. |
