NADP functions as a key cellular coenzyme involved in redox reactions, cycling between its oxidized (NADP⁺) and reduced (NADPH) forms, with NADPH serving as an essential reducing agent for biosynthetic pathways such as lipid and cholesterol synthesis, fatty acid elongation, and cellular antioxidant defense through regeneration of reduced glutathione (GSH).
