| Description: | L-Phenylalanine is an essential amino acid and also the precursor of neurotransmitters such as dopamine, norepinephrine, epinephrine, Dihydroxyphenylalanine (I-DOPA), thyroxine and melanin. It plays a key role in the biosynthesis of other amino acids, such as tyrosine, and is essential in the structure and function of many enzymes and proteins. L-Phenylalanine can be used as a component of cell culture media and in the preparation of Dulbecco′s Modified Eagle′s Medium (DMEM). |
