| Description: | L-Leucine is a non-glucogenic, essential amino acid. It plays a role in gene transcription, translation and intracellular signaling. It functions as a nutrient signal to promote protein synthesis and activates the mammalian target of the rapamycin (mTOR) signaling pathway, regulating the cell growth in placental cells, skeletal muscles, and adipose tissue. L-Leucine also prevents protein degradation and promotes mitochondrial biogenesis, glucose metabolism, and fatty acid oxidation to provide energy for protein synthesis. It can be used as a component in cell culture media for therapeutic recombinant proteins and monoclonal antibodies. |
