Hygromycin B is an aminoglycoside antibiotic that is commonly used as a resistance screening reagent. Due to misreading of mRNA templates, it can inhibit protein synthesis therefore killing bacteria. It can be used to select for cells that have been transformed with a plasmid containing a E. coli hygromycin resistance gene (hyg or hph) The recommended concentration for different cell culture types: Mammalian cells:50~1000μg/ml Plant & baceria:20-200μg/ml Fungi:200~1000μg/ml |
