| Description: |
Hygromycin B is an aminoglycoside antibiotic that is commonly used as a resistance screening reagent. Due to misreading of mRNA templates, it can inhibit protein synthesis therefore killing bacteria. It can be used to select for cells that have been transformed with a plasmid containing a E. coli hygromycin resistance gene (hyg or hph). The recommended concentration for different cell culture types are as followed: Mammalian cells: 50~1000μg/ml Plant & bacteria: 20-200μg/ml Fungi: 200~1000μg/ml |
