The Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8) is a convenient and sensitive colorimetric assay for evaluating cell proliferation and cytotoxicity in vitro. The kit utilizes the highly water-soluble tetrazolium salt WST-8, which is reduced by cellular dehydrogenases in viable cells to produce a water-soluble formazan dye in the presence of an electron mediator. CCK-8 is supplied as a ready-to-use, one-bottle solution, enabling simple, nonradioactive, and accurate quantification of viable cell numbers, making it ideal for routine cell proliferation and toxicity studies. |
