The Annexin V–PE Apoptosis Detection Kit is a fluorescence-based assay for detecting apoptotic cells by monitoring phosphatidylserine (PS) externalization, an early event in apoptosis. Annexin V is a calcium-dependent phospholipid-binding protein with high affinity for PS, which translocates from the inner to the outer leaflet of the plasma membrane during apoptosis. PE-labeled Annexin V enables direct detection of PS exposure by flow cytometry (FACS), while propidium iodide (PI) counterstaining allows clear discrimination between viable cells, early apoptotic cells, and late apoptotic or necrotic cells. This kit provides a rapid, reliable, and sensitive method for apoptosis analysis in a wide range of cell types. |
