The Annexin V-FITC Apoptosis Detection Kit is a fluorescence-based assay for identifying apoptotic cells through the detection of phosphatidylserine (PS) externalization, an early hallmark of apoptosis. Annexin V is a calcium-dependent phospholipid-binding protein with high affinity for PS, which translocates from the inner to the outer leaflet of the plasma membrane during apoptosis. FITC-labeled Annexin V enables direct detection of PS exposure by flow cytometry (FACS), while propidium iodide (PI) counterstaining allows discrimination between early apoptotic, late apoptotic, and necrotic cells. This kit provides a simple, rapid, and reliable method for apoptosis analysis in a wide range of cell types. |
