The Annexin V–eGFP Apoptosis Detection Kit provides a fluorescence-based method for identifying apoptotic cells by detecting phosphatidylserine (PS) externalization, a hallmark of early apoptosis. Annexin V is a calcium-dependent phospholipid-binding protein with high affinity for PS, which translocates from the inner to the outer leaflet of the plasma membrane during apoptosis. eGFP-labeled Annexin V enables direct detection of PS exposure by flow cytometry (FACS), while propidium iodide (PI) counterstaining allows discrimination between viable cells, early apoptotic cells, and late apoptotic or necrotic cells. This kit offers a simple, rapid, and reliable solution for apoptosis analysis across a wide range of cell types. |
