Albumin, the most abundant plasma protein, plays key physiological roles in maintaining colloid osmotic pressure, transporting fatty acids, bilirubin, and minerals, and acting as an antioxidant, anticoagulant, and pH buffer. The assay uses bromocresol purple (BCP) to form a colored complex specifically with albumin, and the intensity of the color, measured at 610 nm, is directly proportional to the albumin concentration, enabling reliable quantification for clinical and research applications.
