| Description: |
L-Alanyl-L-Glutamine (Alanyl-glutamine, Ala-Glu), also known as Alanylglutamine, Alanyl-glutamine dipeptide, or GlutaMAX, is an advanced cell culture supplement that can directly replace L-Glutamine in culture media. L-Glutamine is an essential nutrient in cell culture; however, it is unstable in solution and spontaneously degrades into ammonia and pyroglutamic acid, with ammonia being toxic to cells. In contrast, L-Alanyl L-Glutamine is highly stable in aqueous solution and does not spontaneously degrade. During cell culture, cells gradually release a peptidase into the medium, which hydrolyzes L-Alanyl-L Glutamine into L-Alanine and L-Glutamine. The cells then absorb and utilize these hydrolysis products. This utilization mechanism resembles a fed-batch culture strategy, where low concentrations of L-Glutamine are continuously supplied into the medium. This approach improves the utilization efficiency of L-Glutamine and prevents the formation of excess ammonia, thereby promoting better cell growth. L-Alanyl-L-Glutamine can replace an equimolar amount of L-Glutamine and is suitable for all types of cells with minimal adaptation. It can extend the culture duration, reduce the number of passages, and thus save both time and cost. Compared to cells cultured in media containing L-Glutamine, those using L-Alanyl-L-Glutamine show a slower decline in cell viability. This product has a concentration of 200 mM (100×), prepared with Water for Injection (WFI) and 0.85% sodium chloride as the solvent, and is sterilized through 0.1 μm filtration. Recommended working concentration: 1 mM– 4 mM. |
